The Ministry of Transport, Works, Urban Development and Local Government will this afternoon host the first of two official handing over ceremonies for recently constructed bridges.
A release from the Ministry says this afternoon’s ceremony will take place at the Plan Bridge in Chateaubelair from two-thirty.
Following this ceremony, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Kakarta and Top Sharpes, to declare the bridges officially open.
The second ceremony is set to take place on Monday June 22nd at the Hope Bridge at Vermont, from three-thirty in the afternoon, followed by a ribbon-cutting exercise.
The Ministry says the ceremonies will hear addresses from officials in the Ministry of Transport and Works, as well as the Ecuadorian Army Corp of Engineers. The feature address will be delivered by Prime Minister and Minister of Works, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
The Bridge Projects were funded by the Governments of Ecuador and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The construction commenced in November 2014, and was completed by the second week of June 2015.
The total contribution by the Government of Ecuador was two-million, 400-thousand U.S. dollars.
