Health and Family Life Education Teachers will be involved in a workshop today and tomorrow to discuss the nutritional needs of children.
The workshops seek to integrate the National Dietary Guidelines into lesson plans; and provide schools with sets of the National Dietary Guidelines Posters and Brochures.
The School Nutrition Project has as its overall objective, the improvement of the nutritional status and eating behavior of primary school children through strengthened capacity for provision of healthy school meal in primary schools, and the delivery of effective nutrition education and promotion using the national dietary guidelines.
These activities are in keeping with government’s plans to strengthen the food and nutrition curriculum in schools throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The workshops will be held at the Frenches House this Wednesday and Thursday, beginning at 9am daily.
They are being jointly coordinated by the Nutrition Unit and the Curriculum Development Unit and workshop facilitators will be drawn from these Units.
