The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment has issued a strong note of caution to persons not to purchase any drug from persons or agencies who are not authorized to do so.
A release from the Ministry says it has come to its attention that William Newson of Union Island who is not a Pharmacist, and who has no such qualification nor is registered with the Pharmacy Counsel, was allegedly advertising and selling il-dena-fil Citrate a common brand known as Viagra.
The Ministry says after it was made aware of the allegations, the matter was investigated Mr. Newson was informed that his actions were both illegal and unethical.
It said additionally Mr. Newson was told to discontinue this practice with immediate effect and issued an official letter from the drug inspector’s office. The matter was also reported also to the SVG Pharmacy Council and the Comptroller of Customs.
The Ministry says it will continue to monitor the situation to ensure safety and best practices are observed and maintained to all members of the society.
It is advising person not to purchase any drug from persons or agencies who are not authorized to do so and if any of these persons are identified to report them to the Ministry of Health.
