Domestic violence isn’t as great an issue as reported, so says Commissioner of Police, Michael Charles. He says that while any crime at all is a cause for concern, the domestic violence situation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines isn’t alarming.
The commissioner says that some cases go unreported for various reasons, but that the police force is handling things. He added that today’s police officer is well trained in matters of domestic violence
Charles said that the punishment for acts of domestic violence differ depending on the severity of each individual case. He added that the introduction of the Domestic Violence Act is a step in the right direction.
