St Vincent and the Grenadine is moving to boost its search and rescue capacity in times of disasters.
The country is receiving support in that regard from the government of Japan.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the Japanese are donating a substantial quantity of emergency supplies to the country.
Dr. Gonsalves was speaking on the start of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season which opened on June 1st.
While forecasters have predicted a below average season this year, the prime Minister has urged Vincentians not to become complacent.
He said NEMO will be hosting a series of activities to prepare the Vincentian people.
