St. Lucia’s Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony, will be the featured speaker when the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority – ECTEL, convenes its 15th Anniversary Conference today.
The two-day conference will take place at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, St. Lucia under the theme “Committed to Broadband and Open Access in a Digital World.
Topics to be addressed during the two-day event include Broadband Development in the Caribbean; Contributions and Obligations of Service Providers to Broadband and ICT Policies and Plans; Regional Collaboration in Broadband and Open Access; Broadband and Internet Neutrality and the vision for ICT in the OECS.
OECS Ministers as well as other Regional and International Tele-Communications delegates will attend.
The Fifteenth Anniversary Conference also coincides with the ECTEL Council of Ministers Meeting, slated for May 13 at the same venue.
ECTEL is the regulating body for telecommunications in its Member States and the world’s only multi-state telecommunications regulator.
ECTEL was established on May 4, 2000 by Treaty signed in St. George’s, Grenada by the Governments of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
