The sacrifices made by the trade unions of the past, cannot be forgotten, taken for granted or underestimated, so says General Secretary of the National Labour Congress (NLC), Ms Joy Matthews.
Ms. Matthews, speaking on NBC radio’s “Face to Face” programme on the relevance of labour day, says that the dignities and rights that workers enjoy today, were not handed to them, but were fought for by predecessors.
She added that that the trade union of the past is still relevant today, as there are still things to fight for. Matthews says that in this regard, workers need to band together for the betterment of all.
