A senior official in the Ministry of Education has highlighted the importance of the just concluded Grade Six Writing Competition, in helping primary school students to communicate effectively.
The point was made by Education Officer responsible for Language, Literacy and Communication, Albena Jack, as she delivered remarks at the start of the finals of the Writing Competition on Friday.
Mrs. Jack said the competition is intended to sharpen the writing capacity of primary school students.
Mrs. Jack used the opportunity to appeal to Teachers to encourage their students to practice their writing skills, as often as possible.
Donya Lucas of the Calliaqua Anglican School took the top positon ion the competition this year. Second was Jayrika Williams of the Questelles Government School, while Danielson Fergusson of the Kingstown Preparatory School was third
