The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment will host a News Conference on Friday, to provide an update on the Venezuelan Miracle Mission Programme.
A release from the Ministry says the News Conference is designed to highlight the partnership between St Vincent and the Grenadines and Venezuela, in implementing the programme, which is currently underway across the country.
The Ministry says the program re-affirms the interest to exchange and develop technical assistance and co-operation projects between both countries. It says it also speaks to the commitment to contribute to the diagnosis of eye pathologies and assist in choosing the patients in providing optical care and, in some cases, surgical intervention for persons in need.
The professionals in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and also in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are currently making preliminary arrangements for travel to Venezuela on behalf of those persons identified for the requisite medical intervention, following the screening conducted for cataract and pterygium (fleshy growth on the eye).
The Ministry says Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is among officials expected to speak at Friday’s News Conference. Remarks will also come from Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Clayton Burgin; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Camilo Gonsalves; key professionals in the Ministry of Health, as well and the visiting Venezuelan Health professionals. Friday’s News Conference is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm, at the Georgetown Health Centre
