Twenty farmers from district 8 South will today be engaged in a workshop on the production and management of the Beauregard variety of sweet potato.
The Ministry of Agriculture says the workshop will be held at the LESCO headquarters in Langley Park from ten this morning.
The Facilitators for the session will be Philmore Issacs, Andrea Latchman and Racquel Sutherland.
During the training, Farmers will be taught about pest control and good agricultural practices.
The Beauregard variety of sweet potato was developed at the Louisiana State University in 1987.
The Ministry of Agriculture says this variety is believed to be the world’s most popular sweet potato.
It is said to be favored for high yields of uniform, reddish-purple potatoes with tasty, deep-orange flesh that keeps well in storage.
