A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ICT says the Government has continually invested tremendous resources in Information Communication Technologies to bring about transformation, improvement in communication and to increase the efficiency of public service delivery.
These are illustrated by the many information systems and technologies that are utilized throughout the public service including Smart Stream, Customs Asycuda, Health Management Information System, Tax Online System, Government Website and E-mail services.
The release says the current Government Website and Intranet has limited functionality and with the lack of a proper records management system in place, the process of archiving and retrieving of official documents created inefficiencies.
Thus, the rebuilding of the National Portal and Government Intranet were integrated to increase Government’s web presence locally, regionally and internationally, improve communications among its agencies, making government more transparent and enhance citizen access to higher quality services.
The Ministry has completed the development of these systems and is currently conducting the testing necessary to begin operations.
The Launching ceremony takes place on May 4th at the Telecommunications Conference Room located on the fourth floor of the Clico Building.
