He made this statement during yesterday’s launch of the 2015 edition of the Fisherman’s month of activities under the theme “Forty Years of Harvest, accept no less, Fish is the best” and the slogan “Put a Fish on Your Dish”.
This year marks forty years of the Fisherman’s Day activity and to coincide with this milestone, this year’s program runs for forty days. From April 16th to May 25th.
Mr. Ryan said as the Government continues its program of poverty eradication the consumption of fish continues to play a vital role in feeding many Vincentians.
Mr. Ryan said the need for better technology and improved marketing systems is important for the nation’s fishing industry to develop and he is appealing to the Private Sector to play a greater role in this development.
