A ten-week intensive training programme hosted by the Customs and Excise Department for Junior Customs Officers opens here today.
The 11th Junior Officers Promotion Course is being conducted by the Department from Monday to Friday this week.
The course is intended to strengthen the knowledge of the participants in the various customs procedures and techniques necessary to perform efficiently and effectively.
It also serves to determine the eligibility of each participant for possible promotion to the rank of Senior Customs Officer.
Some 115 Officers have so far benefited from the programme, which has been conducted since 1994.
The training is being conducted at the Conference Room of the Customs and Excise Department.
