At a regional youth leader town hall meeting yesterday, held in Jamaica and hosted by us president Barack Obama, a question was posed about the US’s stance on the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana.
Mr. Obama said that the US has to look at what effect the legalization of marijuana would have on other drugs, and raised the issue of capitalism.
Mr. Obama said that the United States’ policy remains firm when it comes to decreasing demand in the US, focusing on the public health aspect and stopping the flow of illegal guns and money in the Caribbean and Latin America.
He added that the region needs to work with the US to decrease the power of the Trans national drug organizations.
