An appeal has been made here for Vincentian men to seek medical check-ups on a more regular basis, to avoid the complications which may arise from Diabetes.
Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Clayton Burgin made the appeal, during a News Conference held yesterday to mark the signing of an agreement between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba.
The agreement was signed to facilitate the introduction of the drug Heberprot-P in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The drug was developed by Scientists at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Cuba as a cure for diabetic foot ulcers which often result in amputations
Minister Burgin noted that more men are having their limbs amputated than women.
