The Ministry of Agriculture will host a two-day regional workshop here from tomorrow, to discuss the micro-propagation of plants, in particular roots and tuber plant species.
The forum will be attended by Agricultural Technicians from St Vincent and the Grenadines and across the region. It’s part of a programme of activities for agricultural development that is currently being implemented in the CARIFORUM Region.
The primary aim of the programme is to contribute to enhancing the regional capabilities within the agricultural sector in eradicating poverty and in the process increase the capability of Regional Agricultural Development Organizations to address the development needs of smallholder agriculture.
The programme is funded to the tune of 8.6 million euros under the 10th European Development Fund and executed through a contribution agreement signed between the European Commission and the Inter-American Institute for Co-operation on Agriculture.
The lead facilitator at the workshop is Vincentian Rohan McDonald / Biotechnologist and the workshop organizers are Dr. Gregory Robin / CARDI Representative and Michael Dalton / IICA Technical Specialist.
The workshop will take place at the Orange Hill Tissue Culture Laboratory beginning at nine this morning.
