St. Vincent and the Grenadines has joined the global community in observing World Salt Awareness Week from March 16th to 22nd under the theme: ‘Healthier Futures’.
Speaking on NBC’s Face to Face programme this morning, Senior Nutritionist in the Ministry of Health, Joyce Burgin, said the week serves to highlight the importance of reducing salt intake in all populations throughout the world.
She said this year’s focus is on Salt and Children, and will seek to ensure that everyone understands the importance of a healthy start for children.
Miss Burgin said every effort must be made to ensure that children do not develop a taste for salty foods.
