Director of the Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus Dr. Richard Robertson, has urged Policy Makers here to make full use of local knowledge, when formulating policies to build resilience to Natural Disasters.
Dr. Robertson was delivering the keynote address at the opening this morning of a two-day Country Conference, organized by the UWI Open Campus.
The Conference is being held in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross Society under the theme: “Promoting a culture of Safety: Building Resilience to Disasters and Stimulating Sustainable Development
Dr. Robertson also advised that a multi-sectoral approach be adopted to tackle this issue.
