Chief Co-ordinator of the Caribbean Farmers Network (CaFAN), Jethro Greene, said the organization is continuing its efforts to improve the marketing of root-crops outside of the region.
Speaking to NBC News, Mr. Green said farmers have been responding favorably to the ongoing marketing efforts, which have seen the sale of roots and tubers in the European market.
Mr. Greene said dasheen now represents the second largest active crop outside of the region, but, he noted that there are various challenges in the marketing of the commodity.
Mr. Greene said efforts are also being made to add a range of other commodities to the market.
