Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has said that there will be no change to the decision taken at last week’s Shareholders Meeting to relocate Regional Airline LIAT’s fleet base from Antigua to Barbados.
Barbados has been designated as the hub for four of the Airline’s new ATR Aircraft, leaving two each in Antigua and Trinidad.
But, Antigua’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne has raised concerns about the decision, and has requested that no further action be taken on the decision.
Prime Minister Gonsalves said the Government of Antigua is an important shareholder in LIAT, but judging from the performance of the Airline, the relocation is necessary,
The Prime Minister said there must be changes in the way business is done in order to enhance efficiency of the Aircraft.
