This call was made by Acting Director of Forestry, Fitzgerald Providence, who also reminded hunters that the 2014 Hunting season for Birds will climax at the end of February.
Mr. Providence is appealing to hunters to assist in controlling the Armadillo population citing that it is not native to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and is becoming a problem in the forests.
He also reiterated that they are continuing to draft legislation which would make the armadillo a vermin which can be hunted throughout the year.
Mr. Providence is also cautioning hunters who are hunting the Armadillo not to hunt any of the other species which are protected under the country’s laws.
He said they are going to be very vigilant on this issue.
