Several 3rd and 4th form students of History and Social Studies will on Thursday compete in a local History Figure Contest dubbed Portraits.
The students will be presenting arguments to distinguish local persons as National Icons.
Icons will be drawn from any historical era and from any facet of society, including Education, Politics, Business, Religion, Culture and the Arts, Science & Technology, and Agriculture.
Participants are required to research, identify and construct sound arguments in support of their national icons.
Students’ proposals must include basic background information on the icons, such as greatest accomplishments, lasting legacy and impact on the course of our history.
The Local History Figure Contest will take place on Thursday at the Peace Memorial Hall, beginning at nine in the morning.
