A Trinidad based consultant in the management of hazardous chemicals said St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be afforded a number of benefits if it adopts the protocols of the Rotterdam Convention.
Adopted on September 10th, 1998, the Rotterdam Convention is an international treaty designed to facilitate informed decision-making by countries with regard to trade in hazardous chemicals.
Research Analyst at the Basel Convention Center in Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Danelle Dhaniram, said she has submitted a request for the necessary data from various local stakeholders.
Miss Dhaniram, who was on an official visit here last week, said while the Convention is voluntary, she is expecting the full cooperation of local agencies.
