Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has expressed his displeasure with this country’s overall ranking in the 2014 Doing Business Report authored by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
In the report which is based on a survey of 189 countries, St. Vincent and the Grenadines was ranked 6th in the Caribbean and 82nd globally.
Delivering his 2015 Budget Address in Parliament, Prime Minister Gonsalves said three main areas of weakness affected this country’s overall ranking.
He said these include the ease of registering properties, handling insolvency and acquiring credit.
The Prime Minister attributed the reasons for these three weaknesses, to failings on the part of lawyers, the government and financial institutions, and said these ones must work to up their game.
