As global oil prices continue to slide to record lows, a top agricultural official is urging leaders in the agricultural industry to take a proactive approach to ensuring the sustainability of the regions’ agricultural industry.
Chief Coordinator of the Caribbean Farmers Network (CaFAN), Jethro Greene, is urging farmers and policy makers not to be complacent as food prices decline due to the spiraling oil prices.
In an interview with NBC News, Mr. Greene said it is becoming increasingly necessary for proper mechanisms to be implemented to ensure food security.
Mr. Greene said efforts are also being made towards the implementation of a regional production and marketing programme.
