Minister of Tourism Cecil McKie says the Botanical Gardens is not only the oldest, but the best facility in the western hemisphere.
Speaking at the Media launch of the 250th Anniversary of the Gardens, Minister McKie Close to thirty thousand persons visit the Botanical Gardens on a yearly basis.
He commended the Administrative staff who are involved in the upkeep of the Gardens over the years.
Mr. McKie said the Ministry will pay major focus on the development of the Botanical Gardens this year.
The activities which will end in December include the re-enactment of the arrival of the Breadfruit Plant to this country; the opening of an Interpretation Centre at the Gardens; an Exhibition; a Moonlight Cultural Night; a Scientific Symposium; a Regional Competition of Floral Arrangements and a Recognition and Awards Dinner.
