The Salvation Army here was able to raise 81-thousand dollars from its 2014 Christmas Kettle appeal.
Commanding Officer of the Church in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Major Pierre Antoine said the appeal was successful, although they did not achieve their target of 100-thousand dollars.
Major Antoine said, although the Christmas period has passed, additional donations are expected to come in.
He said the funds will be used to support programmes designed to assist the less fortunate in the society.
Major Antoine appealed to Vincentians to continue to support the Salvation Army by donating food and clothing, to ensure that it can fulfill its mandate to assist the less fortunate.
