As the sale of locally slaughtered meat intensifies, Vincentians are being urged to ensure that the certificates are valid for the day on which the meat is being sold.
The advice came from Senior Environmental Health Officer with responsibility for Food Safety, Carlos Wilson, during the Face to face programme aired on NBC Radio.
Mr. Wilson explained that the certificates issued by the Health Department are only valid for one day to ensure a greater level of assurance to the consumer.
Mr. Wilson said the inspections are intended to ensure that the butchers adhere to various health standards.
