The 2014 VINLEC Community Lighting Competition will get underway this evening, with communities from Petit Bordel to Vermont on the leeward side of the island being the first to face the judges.
A release from the National Nine Mornings Committee says the judging will continue tomorrow night when those areas on the windward side from Stubbs up to Owia and Sandy Bay will be judged.
Areas in the Kingstown zone stretching from Questelles to Calliaqua and including the Mesopotamia Valley will be the final ones to face the judges.
The various villages will be judged on: Impact – 20 points, Creativity – 20 points and Theme – 10 points. The judging will be done in five zones including the Grenadines, with zonal winners competing for the national title. Point Village on the windward side of the Island is the defending champion.
The results in the various categories are expected to be announced at 6 o’clock on Christmas Eve morning during the Kingstown Nine Mornings program at Heritage Square.
