Chief Executive Officer of the SVG Tourism Authority (SVGTA), Glen Beache, is appealing to tourism stakeholders to become registered as part of the ongoing thrust to implement national standards within the tourism industry.
Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Mr. Beache said a number of tourism-related businesses are yet to conform to the standards, which came into effect from November 1st this year.
The SVGTA is the national agency entrusted with the responsibility of promoting the country as a tourist destination, developing standards and regulating the quality of the local tourism service providers.
Mr. Beache said the authority is concerned that a large percentage of hoteliers have not been registered, despite having in excess of one-year to prepare.
Mr. Beache also said the standards are intended to improve the overall delivery of service to customers.
