Several individuals were recognized for their contribution to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Industry at an Awards Ceremony on Saturday night.
The Ministry of Tourism and the SVG Hotel & Tourism Association paid tribute to persons and establishments for their outstanding work during 2014.
Awards were presented to Casper Cambridge (Taxi Driver of the Year), Coldrick Ken Gregory Byron (Immigration Officer of the Year), Vermont Nature Trail (Tourism Site of the Year), and the Barrouallie Heritage & Tourism Association (Community Group of the Year).
Ten Awards, sponsored by the CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, were presented to Dexter Richardson, Mariners Hotel (Gardener of the Year), Alma Richards, Young Island Resort (Room Attendant of the Year), Rose Claire Williams, Grenadine House (Waitress of the Year), Karen Primus, Beachcombers Hotel (Housekeeper of the Year), Joel Jack, Paradise Beach Hotel (Bartender of the Year).
Susan Edwards from Rosewood Apartment Hotel was named (Front Office Person of the Year), Loretta Gill-Ballantyne, Beachcombers Hotel (Front Office Manager of the Year), Christopher John, Young Island Resort (Chef of the Year), John West, TMM Yacht Charters (Yachting Operator of the Year), and Grand View Beach Hotel for 50 years of continuous service.
Awards were also presented to Glenroy Adams of Grenadines Dive – Dive Operator of the Year, and Laela Constantine of Grenadine House – Hotelier of the Year.
The Tourism Awards Ceremony was held as part of the Tourism Month program of activities.
