The workshop is being hosted by The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment to sensitize stakeholders about the role which they will play in the National Water Safety Plan and to develop a strategy to guide the implementation of the plan.
Speaking at this morning’s opening ceremony Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment Louis De Shong spoke of the importance of a National Water Safety Plan.
He said the main objective of plan is to ensure the safety of potable water supply for all consumers.
And Medical Officer of Health Dr. Roger Duncan during his remarks said the risk of new water diseases exist although there has been no recent outbreaks. He said there is a need for a strong and proactive water safety plan to address these threats.
