The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC), says it expects to see the establishment of this nation’s Internet Exchange Point or IXP by the end of this year.
An Internet Exchange Point (IXP) is a physical structure through which Internet Service Providers exchange Internet traffic between their networks.
The primary purpose of the IXP is to allow networks to interconnect directly, via the exchange, rather than through one or more third-party networks.
Director of the NTRC, Apollo Knights said while they experienced a number of setbacks in the procurement of the equipment to set up the IXP, everything is now in the country.
Mr. Knights said they expect to have professionals arrive in the state within the next two weeks to assist with the setting up of the IXP.
He added that they expect to have all this work completed before the end of December.
