Members of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Girl Guide Association will be out in full force yesterday afternoon, as to take part in a centenary parade, to mark the culmination of celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of guiding in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Parade is scheduled to leave the Memorial Hall at two this afternoon, travelling through Kingstown to the Girl Guides Headquarters at Level Gardens.
Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guide Association Réchanne Browne – Matthias says the Centenary Parade would also launch the next 100 years of Girl Guiding in SVG.
Mrs. Browne – Matthias indicated that all Bim Bims, Brownie Guides, Girl Guides, Ranger Guides, Guiders, Executive Members and Council members will participate in the event, and will also showcase guiding uniforms from around the world.
The Girl Guide Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has held several activities to celebrate 100 years of guiding locally.
These included the launch of a centenary song, the 100 leg relay from Fitz Hughes to Georgetown where guiding was started , the painting of a centenary mural, a music festival dubbed “Voice, Body and Soul”, A Gala Dinner, a Photo Exhibition, a centenary camp with guides and volunteers from the Caribbean and Suriname and a toast to 100 years campfire.
