More than four hundred students across the country were presented with Scholarships yesterday under the Human Resource Development Scholarship Programme of the Republic of China on Taiwan.
The scholarships were officially handed over to the Principals of Primary and Secondary schools and post-secondary students at a ceremony at the Peace Memorial Hall yesterday.
From Chief Education Officer Lou-Anne Gilchrist during her welcoming remarks said the collaboration between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Government and People of the Republic of China on Taiwan dates back to 1984.
Miss Gilchrist said the scholarships will provide financial support for students as they seek to advance academically.
Taiwanese Ambassador Baw-Shan- Ger said in addition to the scholarships, the government of Taiwan will also offer scholarships for students who are pursuing studies students in Taiwan.
Minister of Education Girlyin Miguel is urging the students to use the scholarship wisely as it is intended for their education.
