The Executive Director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency CARPHA, Dr. James Hospedales is advising St. Vincent and the Grenadines and other countries in the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, OECS to move quickly to prepare their health systems for the possibility of the Ebola virus entering the region.
Dr. Hospedales gave the advice, as he addressed the closing News Conference, following a meeting of OECS Health Ministers held here last week.
He noted that the probability of Ebola entering the region is low, but countries must nevertheless be prepared.
Dr. Hospedales said OECS countries also need to ensure that they do not create panic among members of the general population.
