The St. Vincent and the Grenadines community College has issued a response to reports which have been circulating here, in relation to accreditation of Associate Degrees offered by the College.
The reports claim that students who have completed Associate Degrees at the Community College and those currently enrolled have been told that their programmes may not be accredited to institutions outside of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
In a statement on the issue issued yesterday, Director of the College Nigel Scott outlined the degrees offered by the College and gave a brief summary on the status of each.
Mr. Scott said the College has begun the process of seeking accreditation, and the first step of this process was achieved when it received its Certificate of Registration or Pre-Accreditation in November last year.
The statement noted that accreditation is a process that can only be granted by an Accreditation body such as the National Accreditation Board of SVG. It stressed that institutions like the UWI cannot provide accreditation, only recognition for, and articulation its programmes.
The statement pointed out that the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College is seeking this recognition.
