Senior Forestry Supervisor, Cornelius Richards, is cautioning persons against the unlawful possession of the national bird, the Amazona Guildingii.
He was speaking during NBC’s Face to Face programme, which focused on issues relating to forest and river conservation as well as the protection of the various wildlife species.
Mr. Richards explained that persons found in possession of the national bird will be in breach of the laws of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Mr. Richards also said the forestry department has put mechanisms in place to catalog the local parrot specie.
