The 2nd Edition of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Super40 Cricket Tournament will get underway this weekend with matches at the Arnos Vale (1) and the Sion Hill Playing Field.
On Saturday, LIME Radcliffe will meet Victors (1) at Arnos Vale (1) and on Sunday Team Rivals will clash with Guardian General Saints also at Arnos Vale (1).
And on Sunday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, I-Shallz Byam’s Physical Therapy will face the winner of the match between LIME Radcliffe will meet Victors (1)
On Saturday September 20th, the loser of match (2) will meet the loser match (3) at the Park Hill Playing Field.
The Final will also be played at the Playing Field between the winner of match (2) playing against the winner of match (3).
Meanwhile, there have been three main changes from the inaugural Tournament, the Super40 is now expanded to five teams, the preliminary matches will be played at Arnos Vale (1) and Sion Hill, and (3) two West Indian International players will be featuring in the final on the 21st September.
The qualifying teams are: I-Shallz Byam’s Physical Therapy champions of National Lotteries Authority First Division 2014, Team Rivals, Guardian General Saints, LIME Radcliffe, and Victors (1).
The First division team is allowed to draft in four new players, while the Premier division teams are allowed two players.
The SVGCA Super 40 this years has 3 components: The Cricket, A Soca fete at Park Hill on the eve of the final, and a Magazine to be designed and distributed early January 2015. Prize monies have doubled from last year, with the winners’ cheque increasing from EC$2,000 to EC$4,000. Runners up gets EC$1,500, 3rd place EC$700, and 4th place $300. Additionally, each Man of the Match would be receiving a bat compliments Veira’s Courtesy Sports.
