Vincentians are being urged by the forestry Department in the Ministry of Agriculture to recognize the importance of watersheds in the daily lives.
The appeal came from Forestry Supervisor, Cosmus McCleod, who explained that a watershed or drainage basin is an area of land where surface water from rain converges to a single point at a lower elevation, where the waters join another water body, such as a river or reservoir.
Speaking during the Face to Face programme aired on NBC Radio on Wednesday, Mr. McCleod said watersheds contribute significantly to the sustainability of livelihoods.
Mr. McCleod said watersheds also contribute to socio-economic development.
