Chief Engineer in the Ministry of Transport and Works, Brent Bailey said the Government is hoping to expedite the Coastal Defense Work in Georgetown because erosion has been very serious in this community.
He made this statement as he highlighted that the Ministry of Transport and Works is expected to commence Coastal Defense work in a number of areas throughout the country from early next year.
Mr. Bailey tells NBC News that from the Rabacca River down to the Black Point Recreational Park has been experiencing three feet of Coastal erosion every year.
Mr. Bailey said while some years the erosion is more serious than others, Coastal Erosion is a serious issue which has to be addressed.
