Local Historian Dr. Adrian Fraser has highlighted the important role of the church during and after slavery.
Dr. Fraser said the church sanctioned and justified slavery as every effort was made to take away religion.
Dr. Fraser also said although the country has economic and political control there is much more to be done to be emancipated culturally.
