A Bank of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Barrouallie select team beat Parkside Rollers 3-nil in yesterday’s exhibition match to mark the opening of the 2014 Barrouallie Football Championship at the Keartons Playing Field witness by a large and colourful crowd.
The goals were scored by Chavel Cunningham, Roy Richards and Vasbert Ledger.
The opening ceremony heard addresses from sponsors and sporting officials. All of whom commended the Barrouallie Sports Association for their hard work in ensuring that sports in Barrouallie is alive. The sponsors reiterated their support, and pledge to continue working with the organization for the upliftment of the community.
This year’s Championship will see teams participating in the Maxwell Charles Under-13, Norell Hull Under-17, Hairoun Beer Knockout and Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Senior Divisions.
A total of six teams is expected in both Under-13 and Under-17 Divisions, and fourteen in the Senior Divisions.
Games will begin in earnest tomorrow with System 3 FC facing Combined Youths at the Keartons Playing Field from 4:30 pm.
