Local Farmers are being urged to plant more trees, to support the ongoing thrust by the Ministry of Agriculture to achieve food security.
The appeal came from Minister of Agriculture Saboto Ceasar, during his remarks at the official launch of project which is intended to assist Farmers whose fields were affected by the floods of December 2013 and
Minister Caesar urged the farmers to take care of the plants which they would be receiving.
Minister Caesar said the tree planting exercise is part of the Ministry’s thrust to reduce hunger and undernourishment.
The replanting project is being carried out in collaboration with the Mustique Charitable Trust and the Richmond Vale Academy.
The trees are to be distributed on the leeward and windward areas of the island.
