Hornets, Warriaz, Dragons, Blazing Heat, Rising Stars and Duke won matches at the weekend in the Bequia Basketball Championship at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Port Elizabeth.
In the Under-16 Division, Hornets secured a 23-19 victory over Rockets. The top scorer for Hornets was Kenus Tally with 12 points, while Omario Louie was the leading scorer Rockets with 10 points.
Kirsty Bailey hit a game high 14 points, had 7 rebounds and 1 block as Dragons beat Titans 44-18. The top scorer for Titans was Kelroy Duncan with 10 points.
And, Dragons edged out Hornets 32-24. The top scorer Dragons was Kirsty Bailey with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist, Kenus Tally led the way for Hornets with 7 points.
Blazing Heat defeated Young Duke 68-46 in the Second Division, the top scorer for Blazing Heat was Denroy Hutchins with a game high 28 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 blocks and the leading scorer for Young Duke was Jadeja Ollivierre with 17 points.
And, in the First Division: Warriaz eased past Wizards 67-60. Leading the way for Warriaz was Warrican Myers with 20 points, 20 rebounds and 3 assists, while Jason Hutchins Wizards’ top scorer with 15 points.
Rising Stars had a 71-65 win over Warriaz. Kirstin Lampkin was Rising Stars top scorer with 18 points, 18 rebounds and 1 assist and the leading scorer for Warriaz was Warrican Myers with 18 points.
Lamont Gordon with 21 points, 24 rebounds and 2 assists helped guided Duke to a 74-59 win over East Blazers. The top scorer for East Blazers was Cosmus Hackshaw with 19 points.
The Championship continues tomorrow with another three matches. From 6 pm, Hornets will meet Young Wizards, while Dragons will oppose Rockets 7 pm and at 8:30 pm, Rising Stars play Wizards
