The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, will be collaborating with the Ministry of Education next week to conduct three one day workshops on nutrition and meal planning for all School Feeding Staff in primary and special needs schools over the period.
A release from the Ministry Health says the training will be carried out as part of the joint project involving the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, the Ministry of Education and the School Nutrition, with funding provided by the Mustique Charitable Trust.
The Ministry says the aim of the workshops is: to increase the knowledge and skill base of schoolfeeding staff and school-based food vendors in primary and special education schools in the nutrition and food needs of school children.
It is also intended to help develop a pool of nutritionally sound and culturally appropriate menus for the School feeding programme by geographical location
The workshops are being co-ordinated by Chief Nutritionist in the Ministry of Health , Mrs Andrea Robin, and Schoolfeeding Programme Co-ordinator, Vickliyn Job.
Over one hundred participants from the Schoolfeeding Programme in primary schools all over St. Vincent and the Grenadines, schools for children with special needs and the foodservice staff at the Liberty Lodge Boys Training Centre are expected to benefit.
