Titans, Hawks, Young Duke, Warriaz, Dragons, Blazing Heat and Duke won matches at the weekend in the 16th Annual Bequia Basketball Championship at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Port Elizabeth, Bequia.
In the Under-16 Division: Titans defeated Dragons 22-20. The leading scorer for Titans was Kelroy Durham with 6 points and 19 rebounds, while Kirsta Bailey led the way for Dragons with 10 points.
Dession Stowe scored 6 points and had 10 rebounds as Hawks defeated Hornets 16-12. The top scorer for Hornets was Michael Penniston with 9 points.
And, Dragons secured a 22-10 victory over Young Wizards. Jovanni Derrick led the way for Dragons with 10 points and 9 rebounds and the leading scorer for Young Wizards was Mario Tannia with 6 points.
In the second Division: Young Duke beat Wizards (1) 66-35. Leading the way for Young Duke was Marko Browne with a game high 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jermaine John with 10 points was Wizards (1) leading scorer.
And, Blazing Heat defeated Rising Stars (2) 61-52 in overtime. The top scorer for Blazing Heat was Denroy Hutchins with 18 points, 14 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Cemal Bess hit a game high 20 points for Rising Stars (2).
And, in the 1st Division: Warriaz beat East Blazers 56-37. Warriaz top scorer was Warrican Myers with 18 points, 26 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals and Cosmus Hackshaw was East Blazers leading scorer with 16 points.
And, Lamont Gordon with a game high 29 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks as Duke eased past Rising Stars (1) 75-69. The top scorer for Rising Stars (1) was Kirstin Lampkin with 16 points.
Tomorrow from 6 pm, Rockets will meet Hawks in the Under-16, while Young Duke will oppose Wizards (2) in the Second Division from 7 pm and at 9 pm, East Blazers will play Wizards (1) in the First Division.
