The Fisheries Division in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries says it is investigating reports that persons are selling and serving Spiny Lobsters during the closed season.
Acting Chief Fisheries Officer, Jennifer Cruickshank Howard, is reminding persons that the sale and possession of Lobsters is prohibited during the closed season which runs from May 1st to August 31st.
Mrs. Howard said persons found violating the regulations will be liable to a fine of up to five thousand EC dollars, under the fisheries regulations.
Mrs. Howard explained that the closed season is designed to facilitate the reproduction of the species.
