Technical personnel from Ecuador are expected to visit the state shortly to conduct assessments of construction works to be done on four Bailey Bridges in North Leeward.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said plans for the Engineers to construct four “two lane” Bailey Bridges, to replace those bridges in the North Leeward area were finalized during talks with Ecuadorian Officials.
According to Dr. Gonsalves construction works on the bridges are scheduled to commence in September.
The Bridges were damaged during the December 2013 Floods.
The Prime Minister is is leading a five member delegation on an official visit to Ecuador that includes his wife, Eloise, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Camillo Gonsalves, and the Ambassador to Venezuela, Andreas Wickham.
The Prime Minister has held talks with the President of Ecuador, Rafael Vincente Correa Delgado, and Senior Government officials with responsibility for Construction, Trade, and Education.
Prime Minister Gonsalves has been awarded the highest civilian honour of Ecuador, the National Order of Merit, for his outstanding work in building solidarity between Latin America and the Caribbean.
The team is expected to return to the state on Sunday.
