Police Officer Zamfir Adams from Barrouallie was crowned Calypso Monarch here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines last Sunday night.
The twenty-four year old who goes by the stage name “Man Zangie” defeated ten other contenders to take the crown with his renditions “Act Before it’s too late” and the Victims Cry.
Robert Patches Knights placed second with his songs Build Again and Ring D Bell.
Defending Monarch Shernelle “Skarpyon” Williams has to settle for third with The Blight and Rising Higher and Shaunelle McKenzie took the fourth spot with Calypso Hard to Write and Every Mother’s Child.
The Dimarch Gras show also included the parade of the King and Queen of the Bands.
Results in that segment will be aired in a subsequent newscast.
Meanwhile … Revellers will take to the streets in Kingstown later today in the annual Street Party.
